What is a "Dome Cut" Die Cut Business Card?

Die cutting is a process where a steel die along with pressure from a hydraulic or mechanical press is used to cut out a specific shape from a business card. The die is a shaped steel blade used to punch out “Die Cut” the desired shape. Select from one of our dies or have us create a custom one for you. We can create just about any size or shape, from steel dies for standard shapes to custom laser cutting for precise, intricate, shapes, and cuts.

Options available on select categories

Premium Gloss Coat

Gloss coat is a varnish, a very glossy, shiny, protective coating that's applied to the printed side(s) of the business cards and dried using ultraviolet light. Gloss coat looks great when used on rich colors like blues, reds, and blacks, the result is an almost wet, lacquered appearance.

Premium Matte Coat

Matte coat is an elegant, dull, glare-free, protective coating that's applied to the printed side(s) of the business cards.

Gloss Film

Gloss film is a very glossy, shiny, protective film. Gloss film feels like paper but is actually a premium plastic film laminate that's applied to both sides of the business cards. Gloss film is water and tear resistant (not proof), it is also used to protect the colors (especially dark colors) from rubbing off the edge of the paper.

Matte Film

Matte film is an elegant, dull, glare-free, protective film. Matte film feels like paper but is actually a premium plastic film laminate that's applied to both sides of the business cards. Matte film is water and tear resistant (not proof), it is also used to protect the colors (especially dark colors) from rubbing off the edge of the paper.

Natural Cover

Natural cover is an uncoated, untreated, porous paper stock. Natural cover is considered an executive stock, usually printed to compliment formal letterhead and matching envelopes. Our full color printing process allows you to print your card with a classic, traditional feel but without any color limits. Business cards can be printed using a single color or a full spectrum of colors, graphics, and color photos.

Ultra Silk® Film

Ultra silk is a soft, dull, luxurious finish that gives the business cards a muted, silk-like look and feel. Ultra silk feels like elegant paper but is actually a premium plastic film, a dull thin film laminate that's applied to both sides of the business cards. Ultra silk film is water and tear resistant (not proof), it is also used to protect the colors (especially dark colors) from rubbing off the edge of the paper.

Classic Linen

Classic Linen is an uncoated, untreated, textured paper stock. Classic Linen is considered an executive stock, usually printed to compliment formal letterhead and matching envelopes. Our full color printing process allows you to print your card with a classic, traditional feel but without any color limits. Business cards can be printed using a single color or a full spectrum of colors, graphics, and color photos.

Velvet Film

Velvet is a soft, dull, luxurious finish that gives the business cards a muted, velvet-like look and feel (feels similar to peach skin). Velvet feels like elegant paper but is actually a premium plastic film, a dull thin film laminate that's applied to both sides of the business cards. Velvet film is tear resistant (not proof), it is also used to protect the colors (especially dark colors) from rubbing off the edge of the paper.

Pearlescent

Pearlescent is an uncoated paper stock embedded with pearl fibers that gives the paper an overall luxurious, metallic, mother-of-pearl look. The reflective quality of the pearlescent base makes all top layer colors and color photos reflect light “shimmer”. Pearlescent “shimmer” shows best when using lighter colors. Darker colors can mask the effect.

Spot Metallic

Spot metallic is a foil-like metallic base that is only applied to a specific section of the business card. The selected area is singled out and treated with a metallic finish while the rest remains untreated. Spot metallic makes all targeted sections look like full color foil, the reflective quality of the metallic base makes all top layer colors and color photos reflect light, example: colors on a can of soda. The goal of this process is to give your card some contrast by highlighting both the regular color and the metallic color. You have the option of adding the spot metallic to any area of the card, for example on a logo, a certain section of a graphic, or even as an elaborate pattern.

Color Core

Color core is an uncoated, untreated, triple layer stock with a middle color core seamed between two outer stocks. Select from 5 core colors (aqua | black | orange | red | blue) or keep it simple with no color (white).

Note: Color core will only be visible in the middle edge layer of the cards. If you are looking for full edge coverage try our painted edge option (available on most other card categories).

Soft Touch Film

Soft touch is a soft to the touch, luxurious finish that gives the business cards a soft, supple look and feel, which softens colors, reduces contrast and gives an overall lighter, muted appearance. Soft touch feels like elegant paper but is actually a premium plastic film, a dull thin film laminate that's applied to both sides of the business cards. Soft touch film is tear resistant (not proof), it is also used to protect the colors (especially dark colors) from rubbing off the edge of the paper.

Brown Kraft

Brown kraft paper is light brown with natural fibers and subtle visible flecks lending itself to a natural, organic look and feel. The uncoated smooth finish provides excellent print quality, while the colored stock adds warmth and a rustic appeal to images. Optional white ink "Spot White Ink" can be applied in specific areas or all over giving you the flexibility to add contrast and brighten images. Brown kraft is 100% recycled with a minimum of 30% post-consumer waste content.

Note: Please be aware that recycled stocks may have slight color variation due to the materials used to manufacture the paper. The flecks in the paper will also vary from sheet to sheet and press run to press run.

Add an additional layer of bold color to your business cards with our edge painting options. Some of our colors include gold, silver, copper, black, red, pink, green, and many more. Select from over 40 edge colors (including metallics & fluorescents). Note: For best results, select a color with contrast. We recommend an edge color that is lighter or darker than the background color in your design.
